Why would they build such a huge wall? How do I get in? I was expanding my soul to sense where the city gate was. After a few hours of rolling I found the gate, now there was another small problem... How do I get in? I cannot bypass the guards...

  I kept observing the city gate during a timespan of a few hours, the two guards were doing their job too well. Oh! I got a great idea, I can just kill them... What's going on with my mind, really? I expect to kill them and enter the city safely? Sometimes I think the Death Core, besides giving me an urge to kill, made me stupid...

  Night came.

  Now is the right time, I moved closer to the city wall and rolled slowly, bordering it. Slow, slow, I can do it, go slow... that’s what I keep repeating to myself to not mess things up.

  “HALT! Who goes there?!” The guard’s voice was loud!

  I panicked, how did they discover me, I need to run! They are pro guards, damn... right, right, hurry—charge and kill them is the only way. I rolled and aimed at the first guard; he was a little young, maybe around twenty years old, I bet he's not a virgin like me when I died, good for him.

  “HAHAHA, how's the job going lately, little Kun,” an old man appeared out of nowhere, calmly walking with a stick and a face full of smiles.

  “Oh, welcome back Master Li,” said the young guard, he was enthusiastic when seeing this Master Li, he didn't know death was coming for him.

  “What was that!” The young guard Kun turned to where the sound was coming from, “Eh? A ball? Seriously these kids nowadays, this late and still playing outside.” After saying this, he kicked me through the city gate.

  I rolled to a corner wall that used to be some sort of store, and thought about my next move.

  Time to find dead bodies inside the city, I will use my Death Sense and I bet I can find something. I can only move around at night though.

  Rolling at night was easy and comfortable, it must be due to my Darkness talent, it felt very comfortable at night. The streets were big, the city reminded me of ancient China. I didn't expect to have to spend over one whole night rolling through the city but I finally found the right place.

  The Execution Grounds, truly a place suited for me. I could feel a thick death aura.

  I rolled and drifted into the grounds, carefully as always.

  Awakening

  The transformation lasted six hours, the ball turned black: the body inside it was fully formed, yet it didn't seem to be complete. After two more hours, the ball retracted inside the body that was forming, finding a place to rest. The ball was moving through the newly formed body, until it reached where the human heart should be located, that space was empty, the ball took the spot of the heart, the arteries in the human body started to become attracted and connected to the Death Core.

  It was morning: the skies were clear, a shining sun could be seen, it could be said that it was the perfect weather to do anything. You could see a middle-aged man walking down the streets smiling, nothing on his expression was unnatural, with a big body and his big muscles, he was moving unhurriedly to his work. “This will be a good day,” he said. Where the man was walking, the people made a path to allow the man to pass, it seemed none wanted to approach him. This man was Ye Qing.

  Ye Qing was a quiet dreamer, when he was young, he was full of dreams; he wanted to travel the sky, fight dragons in legends, conquer beauties, and of course like everyone else, be a true immortal! Unfortunately for him, his talent was quite low, without a big stroke of luck, he will never reach the Qi Refining stage. After he traveled for a few years, he couldn't find luck or chance. Despite this, he still never got depressed or anything, he kept smiling, he tried his best, and he pushed as far as he could!

  Ye returned to his hometown and settled down there, his cultivation was high enough to live a quiet and peaceful life, no one of the clans or the city lord would want to annoy him on their own accord, he was, a Mortal Realm, 9th rank.

  Ye Qing, didn't fight dragons, travel the skies or become an immortal, but he conquered a beauty! Ye Qing married her, with that he became the proudest man. For his wife, he would face an immortal dragon, he would protect her until they died from old age... sadly for him, fifteen years ago there was a beast tide, all the clans’ best fighters, the guards, the city lord, even some weak commoners had to fight. During the battle in the city, there was an unfortunate event, the Su Clan Head was rumored to have given to his precious daughter a defensive treasure, to protect her and her unborn child. Someone took the chance during the chaos to try to steal it, the thief failed and died, the defensive treasure served its purpose and properly protected the Su Clan Head’s daughter and her unborn child but it shattered in the process.

  Ye Qing and the others were fighting the battle as if there was no tomorrow, in the end though, many beasts broke through: there were too many beasts, they got inside the city and started to kill and annihilate the innocent. Ye Qing hurried to where his wife was, sadly it was too late, he found his wife’s pregnant body, dead. He was a man of experience, he traveled through the kingdom, he fought beasts, he fought bandits, he knew the moment he saw his wife’s body, she was hurt by someone. The defensive treasure was shattered and a beast had killed her.

  The city lord and the heads of the rest of the clans killed the beast known as Tide King, at the sight of their leader being defeated the rest of the beasts retreated, there were heavy losses on the city, sixty percent of the population died. When the battle calmed down, and the beasts were retreating, the Su Clan Head had a bad feeling in his soul, so he traveled as fast as he could to his daughter's house... He found Ye Qing embracing his daughter’s lifeless body, raging, growling...

  Ye Qing and the Head of the Su Clan that day fought and argued, Ye Qing blamed himself for being weak, the Head of the Su Clan blamed Ye Qing for not being able to protect his daughter; in the end, Ye Qing was greatly hurt and the head of the clan couldn't bring himself to kill Ye Qing, after all, he was the man his daughter chose. From that day the Su Clan cut all ties with him, and it seems that the surrounding people did as well.

He had long dark hair, the kid’s constitution seemed weak, his skin was too white, Ye Qing thought maybe it was a girl. He was almost too pretty to be a boy, the kid was naked so he could see his little brother there too. When he grows up he will do a good job with some beauties, ha-ha, thought Ye Qing.

  What is a naked boy doing here? He doesn't seem to be hurt... so strange...

  Ye Qing was looking at the boy with full attention, the boy's eyelids trembled, a few seconds later the boy opened his eyes, and their eyes met. For an instant, Ye Qing thought he saw that the boy's eyes were black with a white iris on them, this scared the shit out of him, he kept looking at the boy’s eyes and then it appeared that they were just a pair of normal dark eyes.
